10月29日 在光明山普觉禅寺召开第一届新加坡佛教僧伽联合会会员大会，宏船长老被选任为新加坡佛教僧伽联合会主席。
11月24日 与宗教联谊会举行“祈祷世界和平大会”，李光耀总理亲临祝福致词。
同时也为了纪念光明山普觉禅寺开山住持转道长老，主办律仪学会（三坛大戒），并启建水陆大斋胜会。
On 29 October, the first official meeting of the Singapore Buddhist Sangha Organisation took place at KMSPKS and Venerable Seck Hong Choon was elected as its Chairman.
On 24 November, Venerable Seck Hong Choon and IRO held a Grand Prayer for World Peace, with the then Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew giving the opening address.
In memory of its founder Venerable Sik Zhuan Dao, Venerable Seck Hong Choon held a Triple Platform Ordination Ceremony (三坛大戒) and organised the first Grand Prayer that Blesses and Benefits all Sentient Beings (Shui Lu Puja) at KMSPKS.
