Eulogy by Buddhist Association of China
(Delivered by Buddhist Association of China representative: Venerable Shi Ming Yang)

With deep sorrow and sadness, we have made this trip to Singapore on behalf of the Buddhist Association of China, Chairman Zhao Puchu, and members of the whole Buddhist community in China to participate in the funeral and cremation ceremony of the highly respected most Venerable Hong Choon.

Venerable Hong Choon is a world-renowned Buddhist leader from Singapore. Virtuous and noble, Venerable Hong Choon has devoted his life to propagating the Dharma and cultivated a vast following of disciples. He is highly respected by Buddhist communities all around the world. Today, we have lost a Teacher to illness and all of us feel a deep sense of pain and sorrow. At this prayer ceremony, we wish for Venerable Hong Choon to return to benefit all sentient beings in his next life.

In the last decade, Venerable Hong Choon has made several pilgrimages to China to propagate the Dharma. He holds immense affection for China and has a deep friendship with us (Buddhist Association of China) and our Chairman, Zhao Puchu. Venerable Hong Choon has shown concern and support towards the development of Chinese Buddhism and successfully set an example of friendly ties between the Buddhist communities of both countries. I believe that we will follow the wisdom and example set by Venerable Hong Choon in perpetuating this friendship between China and Singapore.

It is said that in order to repay their gratitude and fulfill the last wish of Venerable Hong Choon, the disciples of KMSPKS placed immense importance on bringing the Pagoda of 10,000 Buddhas to fruition. Its completion will definitely make Venerable Hong Choon smile in the light of eternal peace. Sadhu, sadhu!
