1984 – 宏船长老第三次回中国
8月29日,16人访问团。宏船长老率领一个由15人组成的“新加坡光明山普觉禅寺信徒朝山团”第三次访问中国。
分别于29日30日在厦门和北京入境。
宏船长老一行抵京时,赵朴初会长及夫人陈邦织女士,中国佛协副会长正果法师、李荣熙居士、常务理事明旸法师、妙湛法师、游骧副秘书长等共僧众20余人前往机场迎接。下塌北京饭店。
9月2日,受到中国国家副主席乌兰夫会见。赵朴初会长在钓鱼台国宾馆设素食宴招待他们,国务院宗教局任务之局长出席了宴会。
宏船长老率团在华参观访问的43天内,由明旸法师、妙湛法师和游骧副秘书长、赵国忱副主任、王健武先生、那开宪大夫等陪同和护理下朝拜四大名山,峨眉山、九华山、普陀山、五台山,参访了北京、承德、成都、上海、苏州、常州、镇江、南京、杭州、宁波、温州、福鼎、福州、福安、仙游、福清、莆田、泉州、晋江、南安、厦门、漳州、广州等70多座寺院。宏船长老在晋江霞福村举办了三天的祭祖法会,在厦门主持了由他出资修复的万石莲寺开光典礼。
宏船长老和“朝山团”在这一行,布施了一共100多万元,大量的香袋、僧袋等礼物给中国佛教协会、七十多座寺庙和七所佛教教育机构。
于10月10日由北京离境返国。
1984 Venerable Hong Choon returned to China for the third time.
On 29 August, Venerable Hong Choon led a group of 15 Buddhist devotees on a third visit to China. They first arrived in Xiamen, followed by Bejing on 30 August.
When Venerable Seck Hong Choon and his entourage arrived in Beijing, they were greeted by more than 20 people, including Zhao Puchu, Chairman of Buddhist Association of China (BAC) and wife, Chen Bangzhi, Venerable Shi Zheng Guo (BAC Vice-Chairman), Li Rongxi, Venerables Ming Yan and Miao Zhan (BAC Executive Council Members), You Xiang (BAC Deputy Secretary-General), and other Sangha members. They later settled down at Beijing Hotel.
On 2 September, Venerable Seck Hong Choon met with Ulanhu, Vice-President of the People’s Republic of China. They were later hosted to a vegetarian banquet at Diaoyutai State Guesthouse by Zhao Puchu, which was also attended by the Director of the National Religious Affairs Administration.
During the 43 days in China, Venerable Seck Hong Choon embarked on a pilgrimage to the Four Scared Mountains — Ermei mountain, Jiuhua mountain, Putuo mountain, and Wutai mountain. He also visited 70 monasteries at Beijing, Chengdu, Chengdou, Shanghai, Suzhou, Changzhou, Zhengjiang, Nanjing, Hangzhou, Ningbo, Wenzhou, Fuding, Fuzhou, Fuan, Xianyou, Fuqing, Putian, Quanzhou, Jingjiang, Nanan, Xiamen, Zhangzhou, Guangzhou etc. He was accompanied by Venerables Ming Yang and Miao Zhan, Deputy Director Zhao Guochen, Wang Jianwu and Physician Na Kaixian. Venerable Seck Hong Choon also held a three-day ancestral prayer at Xiafu Temple, which he had funded for restoration.
Throughout his trip, Venerable Seck Hong Choon had donated more than $100,000 and gifts to the BAC, over 70 monasteries and seven Buddhist organisations. He returned to Singapore on 10 October.
