11月6日，率团访华抵广州访问时，受到广东省政协副主席郑群会长提到桂见和宴会，广州日报发了消息，原文如下:

昨天下午,省政协副主席、省委统战部长郑群在广东省迎宾馆会见并宴请了原新加坡佛教总会会长宏船长老一行。广东省宗教事务局局长陈冬，广东省佛教协会会长释云峰法师,广州市副市长陈绮等会见时在座。正在广州视察的中国佛教协会会长赵朴初也出席了会见和宴会。

宏船长老一行是应赵朴初的邀请来访的。他们在厦门、北京、桂林等地参观访问后,于四日从桂林到广州参观访问,在穗期间,参观了光孝省委统寺、六榕寺,定于今天乘飞机离开广州回新加坡。

1987 Venerable Hong Choon returned to China for the sixth time.

Venerable Seck Hong Choon led a delegation to China and visited Guangzhou on 6 November. He received an invitation for a meeting and banquet from Zheng Qun, Chairman of the Guangzhou Provincial Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CCPPC). This was reported by Guangzhou Daily and below is the translation of the original text as reported by the newspaper:

“Yesterday afternoon, Zheng Qun, Chairman of the Guangzhou Provincial CCPCC and Minister of the United Front Work Department of the Guangdong Provincial Party Committee, met and hosted a banquet at the Guangdong Yingbin Hotel (Guangdong Sheng Yingbin Guan) for Singapore’s Venerable Hong Choon and his entourage. Chen Dong, Director of the Religious Affairs Administration of Guangdong Province, Venerable Shi Yun Feng, Chairman of the Guangdong Buddhist Association, and Chen Qi, Vice-Governor of the Guangzhou Municipal Government, were present at the event.

Zhao Puchu, Chairman of the Buddhist Association of China was also in attendance.”

Prior to their arrival to Guangzhou on 4 November, Venerable Seck Hong Choon and his entourage had visited Xiamen, Beijing, and Guilin, at the invitation of Zhao Puchu.

During their stay in Guangzhou, they visited Guangxiao Temple and Temple of the Six Banyan Trees (Liurong Si), before departing for Singapore. The original text as reported by the newspaper:
