On 12 December 1927, Venerable Sik Zhuan Dao founded Singapore’s first Buddhist organisation, the “Chinese Buddhist Association”, as he was inspired by Venerable Shi Tai Xu. Venerable Sik Zhuan Dao was the Chinese Buddhist Association’s Chairman for two years as well as its spiritual advisor till his passing.
In 1927, Venerable Shi Tai Xu was invited to take on the role as the Abbot of Nanputuo Temple and Dean of Minnan Buddhist College. However, due to unforeseen circumstances, he had to leave Xiamen.
As Venerables Zhuan An and Jue Wu knew that Venerable Sik Zhuan Dao and Venerable Shi Tai Xu had close relations, they wrote to Venerable Sik Zhuan Dao requesting his assistance to persuade Venerable Shi Tai Xu to return to Minnan Buddhist College. Not only did Venerable Sik Zhuan Dao write to Venerable Shi Tai Xu, but he also remitted $1,000 to help with the operational cost of the Buddhist College.
