This invaluable photo captures a significant moment in history — the inaugural ceremony of “The Grand Prayer that Blesses and Benefits all Sentient Beings” organised by Kong Meng San Phor Kark See Monastery. The event took place on the lunar 24th day of the 11th month in 1966.
To commemorate this remarkable ceremony, the monastery has carefully preserved this photo along with a custom-ordered standing clock by Venerable Seck Hong Choon. The standing clock bears inscriptions that read: “In memory of the 45th anniversary of the founding Abbot Venerable Sik Zhuan Dao’s establishment of Kong Meng San Phor Kark See Monastery, and in fulfilment of Venerable Sik Zhuan Dao’s last wish of organising a puja ceremony with the three kinds of veneration combined — ‘Triple Platform Ordination Ceremony’, ‘The Grand Prayer that Blesses and Benefits all Sentient Beings’ and ‘Grand Prayer for World Peace’.”
As time passes, this old photo and the standing clock continue to bring back fond memories of the joy and success achieved through the organisation of this puja ceremony.
